GTDI Initiatives

The GTDI receives, monitors, distributes and responds to various initiatives affecting our Industry. The GTDI is currently participating in the following initiatives listed below.

On March 12, 2018, Town of Blue Mountains Staff will be presenting a report to the Committee of the Whole to provide recommendations on the municipality’s approach to developing attainable housing solutions to support workforce and economic development. This follows recommendations made by the Economic Development Advisory Committee & South Georgian Bay Tourism Industry Labour Supply Task Force to Councilors in February. A number of local businesses will be presenting comments at the Committee of the Whole meeting including accommodations, food and beverage and attractions sectors. Following recommendations by GTDI and local Chambers of Commerce, the employment community is reaching out to additional sectors to speak about labour force challenges. With the development sector driving a key portion of our region’s economic growth – and experiencing its own recruitment challenges – it would be great to have a local development industry representative provide comments at the March 12th meeting.
