Collingwood is about to be home to a new hotel.
A Holiday Inn Express and Suites is being planned for the Dunncap property at the corner of Hume and Pretty River Parkway, the site of the former Goodall plant.
Ken Hale, vice-president of land development and acquisitions for Dunncap, said the hotel would be a 93-room facility and would include 14 suites.
Hale said with the number of tourists who travel to the community, a hotel was needed.
“Holiday Inn is a quality brand,” he said.
During a budget meeting, director of planning Nancy Farrer said she expects construction to begin this year.
Hale said the site plan approval process is “well underway.”
Holiday Inn had a location in Collingwood at High and First streets, but it was changed to a Comfort Inn several years ago.
